Native-Ecotype Planting and Soil Restoration
← Ecology Work · Restore and Replant
Plants matched to your site and soil that has been rebuilt to support them.

What it is
Native-ecotype planting uses species, and where possible local seed sources, that belong to the area. Soil restoration rebuilds structure and organic matter so those plants can establish.
When it makes sense
Disturbed slopes, new construction edges, lawns being converted, and restoration after invasive removal.
How we do it
- Read the site: soils, light, moisture, and the surrounding plant community.
- Use a native reference ecosystem as the target, as the SER standards recommend.
- Decompact and amend soil where needed, and install a diverse native palette sized for the site.
- Mulch, protect, and monitor establishment.
Standards we follow
- Society for Ecological Restoration (SER): International Principles and Standards for the Practice of Ecological Restoration, 2nd edition (2019)
- USDA NRCS Critical Area Planting (342)
Good to know
Native plantings take a few seasons to fill in. Early weed control and watering matter most.
